Flooding has forced a declaration of emergency at the Greater Lebanon Refuse Authority in North Lebanon Township, effective at 8:30 a.m. Friday. While the GLRA remains open and operational, a number of problems have been reported.
The backup leachate-disposal facilities are flooded and not operational, according to a news release. The leachate in all of the landfill cells has been pumped and diluted in the last two days. In addition, trucking is not available.
All wastewater storage tanks are full, and officials are continuing to pump to the City of Lebanon wastewater treatment plant at roughly 250,000 gallons per day, the release states.
